Origin & History

Lemongrass is native to the tropical regions like Africa, Asia and Australia. It was traditionally used for medicinal, cosmetic and culinary purposes.

It is suggested that in 1905 lemongrass was first steam distilled into the essential oil.

It's reported that the Philippines exported lemongrass oil in the 17th century. The distribution was said to be restricted and kept a secret.

It was first introduced into warmer climates, before becoming popular in the US. Organic lemongrass essential oil is now one of the most popular oils in cosmetics.

Today it is used as a natural fragrance in cosmetics. It is often used in a diffuser, soaps, aromatherapy and homemade deodourisers.

How to Store Your Oils

Make sure to keep your organic lemongrass essential oil sealed and out of direct sunlight. This will stop it from degrading over time and help prolong the quality. Make sure you keep the oil out of the reach of children.

Safety Precautions

Organic lemongrass essential oil is generally skin safe when diluted. Don't apply the undiluted oil to your skin, it could irritate sensitive skin and highly allergy prone skin.

Organic lemongrass should always be diluted with a carrier oil before being applied topically. We recommend a maximum dilution of 0.7% to avoid skin sensitisation.

We also recommend not using this essential oil in treatments for people with sensitive skin or for children.

We recommend that this essential oil should be avoided during pregnancy.

Like all essential oils, we suggest doing a small patch test with the diluted oil. This is to make sure there are no sensitive areas on the skin and to avoid an allergic reaction.

Make sure to keep out of reach of children, this is not a food grade product and is for external use only.
