What is vitamin E oil?

Our vitamin E oil is highly concentrated and it contains around 70% vitamin E and is infused in sunflower oil. Vitamin E is a thick oil and is golden orange in colour.

Some vitamin E oils are produced synthetically, however vitamin E oil is 100% natural and is distilled from sunflower oil. It is also sometimes called vit E.

Vitamin E oil general benefits

Vitamin E oil is often found in cosmetic products like moisturisers. It is great for dry skin as it hydrates and retains moisture which helps to soothe itchy and irritated skin.

A 2015 study looked into the effects of oral vitamin e against eczema. The study found vitamin E oil has antioxidant effects and it was effective at reducing atopic dermatitis with no side effects.

Vitamin E oil is also said to help protect the skin from UV rays. According to a study in 1996, the antioxidants, vitamin E and vitamin C, add protection against phototoxic damage. However, they are more effective against UV rays when added to sunscreens which can maximise the protection.

How to use vitamin E oil

Vitamin E is generally skin safe but it is best diluted to 6% or less in a carrier oil before application. However, it is suggested to test a small patch of skin for sensitivity

Vitamin E oil can also be added to cosmetic recipes like suncream, lotions or creams for added benefits. It can also be added to hair care products to boost the vitamin E content.

Storage

Vitamin E oil should be sealed and stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
