What is Witch Hazel?
Witch hazel is extracted steam distilled from the bark and twigs of the Hamamelis Virginiana Linne tree. Our witch hazel is 86% Hamamelis Virginiana Water & 14% Alcohol.
Witch hazel is a clear liquid with a natural scent. It is ideal in a formulation where you do not want to affect the scent or colour of the finished product.
What is Witch Hazel used for?
Witch hazel has astringent properties and is particularly beneficial for those with oily skin or combination skin, as it gently cleanses and tones the skin, removing excess oils.
Witch hazel is used in skin care products like toner, cleanser, cream and lotions. It is also said to help reduce irritation and provide soothing properties.
Witch Hazel has anti-irritant and soothing properties, particularly if used after shaving, or to treat insect bites and skin inflammations. It can be used in a recipe to treat impurities, blemishes and pimples.
Safety features
We do not recommend over using witch hazel without diluting it first, as it can dry out the skin. If applied alone, please carry out a patch test first and if you experience sensitivity, stop using. Do not use internally.
