How long does The Soapery take to ship?

We understand how important it is to receive your ingredients quickly and get a fair price for shipping. Luckily, our honesty policy expands to delivery. Here’s what you can expect when buying from us:

On Mondays to Fridays (excluding bank holidays), we always dispatch orders the same day if they’re placed before 3pm. On Saturdays, orders are dispatched same-day when placed before 10am. Orders placed after these ‘same day deadlines’ are shipped on the next working day.

Free shipping is available for all mainland UK orders, regardless of weight. Any order placed to this area weighing over 3kg is shipped with a next working day service at no extra cost, whilst everything under 3kg (or to more remote/offshore UK locations) is dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd class and may take 2-3 working days to arrive.

In a hurry? If you’re placing an order under 3kg and want delivery faster than our free 2-3 day option, express shipping can be purchased for an extra charge. Unfortunately, this service is only available for areas of the UK excluding the Highlands and Islands.

Orders to Northern Ireland, the Highlands and offshore locations 4kg and under are shipped for free. Orders over 4kg to these locations have a £9.99 charge per parcel (maximum 25kg). This is available to purchase at the checkout.

Who are The Soapery’s Suppliers?

Here at The Soapery, we don’t settle for mediocre. In an effort to bring our customers the very best, most sustainable ingredients for everything from soap to candles and beyond, we source from all corners of the globe. Rest assured, our team of crafting experts are highly involved in the selection process, making sure that not only are each and every one of our items high-quality, sustainable, and offered at a low price, but that our producers are looked after too.

We love to support other UK businesses where we can, so you'll find that a lot of our ingredients such as our melt and pour soap bases and our bath bomb ingredients are produced in the UK. Further afield, our shea butter stock supports women in rural Ghana, whilst our avocado oil sourcing tackles wasteful production processes and pays farmers fairly.

You can find more about how our amazing ingredients are sourced and produced over on our blog.

Why use natural ingredients?

Natural ingredients have stood the test of time for centuries - and aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. As a natural ingredient supplier, we may sound a little biased when we say this, but we believe they’re the best thing out there for both people, and the earth.

Our founder started The Soapery after spending years creating his own all-natural skincare products for sensitive skin. Over his many years in the industry, both as a customer and an expert, Andy - much like many members of The Soapery community - came to find that clean ingredients are free of the irritating chemicals known to cause all sorts of bodily reactions, from redness to rashes.

To further this, natural ingredients, whether used for cosmetics, skincare, toiletries, or home products, are better for the environment. Thanks to their minimal manufacturing and extraction processes, clean, fresh ingredients produce the least possible amount of environmental harm during their creation, and when washed down the drain or thrown away after use.

What natural ingredients are good for skin?

The list of natural ingredients with benefits for skin are near endless - but ultimately, the very best are determined by the specific results you’re looking to achieve, after all, everyone’s skin type is different. With this being said, some of our team’s favourite natural ingredients for skincare products include:

  • Argan Oil

Argan oil contains Vitamin E and fatty acids that help promote healthy-looking skin. Widely called the ‘miracle oil’ for its moisturising benefits, it’s often used in body butters and lotions.

  • Grapeseed Oil

Packed to the brim with antioxidants known for keeping skin healthy and hydrated, grapeseed oil is generally suitable for use in acne or sensitive skin products.

  • Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E oil is often found in cosmetic products like moisturisers. It’s great for hydrating and soothing dry, itchy, and irritated skin.

  • Kaolin Clay

The perfect option for face masks and facial washes, kaolin clay is a natural face-friendly purifier, drawing toxins and blockages from the skin with ease.

Which natural ingredients are good for hair?

Using natural ingredients is one of the best possible ways to achieve healthy, fast-growing hair - replacing the ‘unknown’ element of complex chemicals and build-up with clean, clear, and cost-effective products. Of course, the exact ‘best’ ingredients for hair are down to your/your customer’s unique hair and scalp, however, our most popular include:

  • Argan Oil

Used worldwide as a standalone hair treatment, argan oil makes the perfect overnight or leave-in deep conditioning treatment.

  • Castor Oil

Castor oil is a popular ingredient in hair treatments. It’s known to support hair growth  - including eyebrows and eyelashes.

  • Coconut Oil

The ultimate moisturising oil, coconut oil can be used as an ingredient in hair products or applied topically, helping keep the scalp in good condition and free of flakes.

What are organic ingredients?

In the world of skincare, cosmetics, and soap making, organic ingredients are all the rage. But what are organic ingredients, and how can you find them?

Like most ingredients, the oils, butters, powders, and decorations put into your handmade products are farmed or extracted from the natural world. Those certified as organic by the Soil Association were grown, produced, and harvested in line with strict EU regulations designed to protect and sustain the environment (including soils, ecosystems, animals, and people).

In practicality, your ingredients’ organic certification most likely means that they were produced using fewer pesticides, no artificial fertilisers, and without genetic modification.

The Soapery is proud to offer a wide range of products fully certified by the Soil Association. Keep an eye out for their seal on our site!

How do you know if an ingredient is natural?

In the UK, there’s no precise legal definition (or labelling requirements) for natural ingredients and products - which can make determining if an ingredient is really natural or not difficult. Our experts recommend keeping in mind that natural ingredients are generally something that can be found in nature - whether existing or extracted. For example, dried rose petals are quite obviously natural, whereas a chemical compound derived from a plant, mineral, or animal is equally so - albeit less obvious.

Here at The Soapery, our natural products are clearly labelled, making shopping simpler than ever before.

What’s the difference between natural and organic ingredients?

The main difference between organic and natural ingredients are the exact circumstances under which they were grown and harvested.

Organic ingredients, in particular, are subject to specific regulations restricting the use of pesticides, artificial fertilisers, and genetic modification. These standards are designed to protect both people and the planet.

Natural ingredients, on the other hand, are simply composed of elements found in nature - containing no artificial elements or additives.

Under this logic, a product can be both organic and natural. Whilst each and every one of  The Soapery’s products are natural, our organic range is clearly labelled using The Soil Association seal.
