What are botanical extracts?

Extracts are liquid solutions derived from the roots, leaves, and flowers of plants. These herbal extracts are typically blended with solvents like glycerin, water, and preservatives, so they're not entirely pure plant material.

What does botanical extract do to skin?

Each extract has its own benefits for skin! Calendula extract is said to help irritated skin, eczema and rashes due to its anti inflammatory and soothing properties. It is often used in cosmetics like body washes, lotions, creams and liquid soaps!

Arnica extract is often used in cosmetics for its anti inflammatory properties and is often used in face masks, toners, creams and moisturisers.

Dandelion extract helps improve the firmness in skin and bring back elasticity in mature skin. It has amazing natural moisturising and hydrating properties and is can be used in lotions, creams, moisturisers and serums.

Grapefruit seed extract is rich in vitamin C which helps brighten the skin, reduce dry skin and hydrates the skin. It is great for skincare products like cleansers, nail cleanser, creams, serums, moisturizers, shampoos and face masks!

Types of botanical extracts

We offer a few different types of plant extracts made from flowers, leaves and fruits. Our extracts range includes calendula extract, grapefruit extract, arnica extract and dandelion extract.

How are botanical extracts made?

They are extracted from the roots, leaves and flowers of plants. Botanical extracts are processed from the botanical raw material with extraction method, using glycerol, water, and is protected with preservatives.

Are botanical extracts good for skin?

Yes! Botanical extracts offer a variety of benefits for a range of different skin types.

If you have irritated skin, calendula extract and arnica extract are especially good for soothing irritation.

For dry skin types, grapefruit extract is the best choice due to its vitamin C content.

For those with sensitive skin or mature skin, we recommend using dandelion extract!

Botanical extracts vs essential oils

Essential oils are 100% pure and are a very concentrated oil from a plant whereas, extracts are not 100% pure as they are extracted into water, glycerol and preservatives.

Essential oils are mostly used for their strong aroma and can be very expensive due to the way they are created.

There are often certain plants that cannot be made into an essential oil, but can be made into an extract.
