What is Magnesium Chloride?

Magnesium chloride is a mineral salt compound that is highly soluble in water. It comes as a white crystalline solid or flakes.

Magnesium chloride is not the same as Magnesium sulfate (epsom salt). Magnesium sulfate is a mineral that is slow absorbing and offers short term relaxation for muscles. Whereas, magnesium chloride is a fast absorbing mineral that offers longer term benefits.

What is Magnesium Chloride Used For?

It can be used in a wide variety of cosmetic products including shampoos, bath salts, body washes, creams and lotions.

Magnesium chloride is used in cosmetics to enhance the texture and viscosity of cosmetic products. It works with the other thickening agents like guar gum or hydroxyethyl cellulose to create a consistent texture.

It can also work with preservatives in cosmetic formulations to help improve the stability and extend the product's shelf life. Magnesium chloride flakes also hydrate skin and it is great for soothing dry and irritated skin.

It is often used in food and supplements, however our magnesium chloride flakes are not food grade.
