What is Wormwood Essential Oil?

Wormwood essential oil is a red to brown coloured oil with a sweet, fruity and herbaceous aroma. Wormwood (also known as green ginger or sweet wormwood) is steam distilled from the Artemisia Annua plant.

The artemisia annua plant is an annual herb and it grows well in sunny, warm and dry climates.

Wormwood essential oil has a sweet, fruity aroma and it often used as a top note. It blends well with other essential oils like lavender, sage, cedarwood, pine, clary sage and rosemary.

How to Store Wormwood Essential Oil

Wormwood essential oil should be stored out of direct sunlight, in a cool dry place. This helps prolong the quality of the oil and stops it from degrading over time. Make sure to store wormwood essential oil out of reach of children.

Safety Precautions

Wormwood essential oil should not be applied directly to the skin as it could cause irritation on sensitive areas. To apply wormwood to the skin, you must dilute it by adding a few drops to a carrier oil first. Some common oils to dilute essential oils are jojoba oil or almond oil.

We recommend doing a patch test with the diluted oil on a small area of skin to check for any skin reactions, sensitive areas or allergies to the oil.
