Do you have oily or acne prone skin? It’s time to invest in a natural toner to help combat excess oils, large pores and inflammation.
Did you know it only takes 2 ingredients to make your own toner? Our toner recipe uses just witch hazel and rose petals.
But how does it work? Let’s look into it…
What Does Witch Hazel do for Skin?
Witch hazel is an astringent that naturally cleanses and tones the skin. It can help reduce inflammation on the skin, excess oils and tighten the skin helping to reduce pore size.
Our witch hazel is 86% Hamamelis Virginiana Water & 14% Alcohol. This toner recipe should be used on oily or acne prone skin. However, it is not suitable for those with dry, normal or sensitive skin as its strong astringent properties may be drying.
We are infusing the witch hazel with dried rose petals for added anti-inflammatory properties, to soothe the skin and to restore the skin barrier!
Rose Toner Recipe
For this recipe, we are making 100ml of rose toner. The exact measurements may vary, as it is based on filling your chosen jar with the ingredients.
Ingredients
- Witch hazel (14% alcohol) 100ml
- Dried rose petals 75g
Method

1. Make the Infusion
- Fill a jar with dried rose petals, leaving an inch or two free at the top.
- Pour the witch hazel on top of the rose petals and fill the jar completely.
- Make sure the rose petals are fully submersed and put a lid on the jar.
- Leave the rose petals to infuse into the witch hazel for around 2 weeks.

2. Strain the Witch Hazel
- After the witch hazel has been infused, strain the liquid to remove the petals.
- Pour your infused witch hazel into a bottle and your toner is ready to use!

How to Use a Toner?
To apply the toner, we recommend using a cotton pad. Simply, pour a small amount of toner onto the cotton pad and gently sweep the cotton pad onto the skin.
Toner should be the second step in your skincare routine. After you have cleaned your skin with a cleanser, apply the toner to damp skin. After the toner, make sure to apply a moisturiser.
