What is murumuru butter?
Murumuru butter is extracted from the seeds of the murumuru palm tree. It is off white in colour, with a sweet nutty scent.
It has a soft, creamy and rich consistency, making it a great base for cosmetic formulations for the skin and hair. Its consistency is similar to the likes of shea butter or mango butter.
Our murumuru is a virgin butter and is sustainably produced as it is wildcrafted. The seeds used to produce the butter have been foraged in their natural wild habitat.
Murumuru butter for skin
Murumuru butter is great for the skin as it is high in essential fatty acids, which moisturise and restore elasticity. It is often used in products like body butters, moisturisers, lotions, creams and soap as it aids with moisture retention.
Murumuru butter is an intense natural moisturiser that protects the skin barrier, making it most suitable for dry, sensitive, damaged and aging skin. It has a medium comedogenic rating, so we recommend patch testing if you have a blemish prone or oily skin type.
In soap making, murumuru butter helps to produce a soothing soap bar. It adds a high amount of cleansing, bubbling and hardness to the soap bar. It also adds some creaminess and conditioning effects.
